Meet Talia. She’s a chatty, outgoing 22 year old with disabilities. Jonathan, her dad, describes her as “very interested in being social..it’s a top priority.” Her parents were frustrated by the limited social and educational opportunities for young people with disabilities like Talia. And then they found Shutaf.“Shutaf came along at a good time,” says Jonathan. Talia, who had been in full-inclusion, was suddenly alone, off the path taken by most young Israelis; army, travel, and university. “It was a crisis at the end of high school,” he describes, “you fall off the edge.”

“The fact that there was Shutaf was so good. Shutaf is unique and brave.”

Talia learned how to speak up for herself at Shutaf, details Yaara Weiss, Shutaf staffer. “Now, she identifies and accepts her challenges in a more positive way. It’s great to see the change in her.”Your gift will help Talia and her friends continue to enjoy Shutaf Afterschool Youth Groups, Young Leadership for Teens, Passover and August Camps.
